In Exodus 14, the Israelites encounter their first major obstacle on their journey homeward—the Red Sea. The account of the parting of the Red Sea is significant because it presents God as the central character of the story. He is depicted as acting and operating in every facet of this event. In other words, this story portrays God in complete control. This morning, as we continue our study of the exodus, I want us to pay particular attention to what God is doing because He’s still doing the very same things today.
