One leadership role that God assigned to men is that of an elder, shepherd, or overseer. Those terms are used interchangeably in the Bible to refer to the highest form of congregational governance by humans that God authorized. In this lesson, we’ll examine what the Bible says about this role, why it’s limited to men, why it requires a plurality, and what makes it such a unique leadership position.
