David was different. When Saul was chosen as the first king of Israel, he was selected in part because he looked like a king. But when David was anointed as the next king of Israel, he was selected because he was a man after God’s own heart. In other words, when it came time for God to replace Saul, He was looking for something different, and He found it in David. And one of the ways that David’s difference really stands out is in his relationships.
