Since 1914, on the 2nd Sunday of every May, our country has observed Mother’s Day. As a body of believers, we don’t honor mothers because it is culturally acceptable or commercially promoted but because God instructed us to (Exodus 20:12). And since it is Mother’s Day, let's see what we can learn from the most prominent mother in the Bible—Mary, the mother of Jesus. When you study the life of Mary, you realize very quickly that she faced a lot of adversity. The fact that Mary had to deal with difficult circumstances does not make her a model mother; it just makes her a normal mother. It’s how Mary’s story begins that makes her a model mother.
